What to Expect in Counseling

A person who has never been to counseling before may wonder what to expect.

There will be an assessment process so I can begin to fully understand what is concerning for you. Together we will establish treatment goals that are meaningful and relevant to you.

Therapy usually includes the opportunity to explore and understand one's emotions, to examine thought patterns, and to consider behavioral changes that will help a person begin to feel better. At the close of most sessions, there will be mutually agreed upon homework to help the client move towards their goals.
